Here is a look at what we are learning this week!
Each morning we begin our day with calendar. During this time we work on our days of the week, months of the year, season, days in school, counting, and graphing the weather.
I make sure to utilize song and dance during this time, so ask your child to share their favorite song used :)
Religion:
We are discussing and learning about different parts of the mass and how we are part of God's family.
Language Arts:
This week the story we are reading is Mayday! Mayday!. We will read this story together and students will be able to answer comprehension questions.
We have been working on identifying both short and long vowel sounds. These next few weeks we are focusing on silent "e" (magic "e") which will make the vowel a long sound.
Continue to work on sight words with your child at home! You can find all our sight words that we do in class on the webpage under the sight word tab. Please please work on these, and read the decodable stories that are sent home from our Reader's and Writer's workbook.
Each Monday we complete a Weekend News sheet. Now that it has been a few weeks working on sentences I am making sure that students know when a thought ends and where to put their punctuation.
Math:
We have just finished learning about time to the hour and half hour. Ask your child to share the song we sing with our clock.
To prepare for our field trip to Barraco's we will be learning about equal parts and explore halves, and fourths.
Social Studies:
Science:
Finish our ocean unit
